Explore the unknown Great Ocean Road from your beautiful, restful home base.

(Old Peterborough Road)

The journey along the spectacular Great Ocean Road ends for most people at Port Campbell, where they turn for home after visiting the Twelve Apostles.

Travel just 12 minutes further along and you’ll discover Peterborough, where the wild majesty of the Southern Ocean carving its way into the limestone cliffs is even more breathtaking. The lack of tourist crowds means the white, pristine beaches and coves are more accessible to visitors all year round. Certainly more pleasurable. There’s nothing like discovering something that feels special to you.

Cath, your host, was born in Peterborough to one of the original settler families of the region. Her great, great grandfather James Irvine purchased land west of Peterborough in 1868,  which is still being farmed by the family today. A stay at 100 OPR includes sharing her intimate knowledge of the best walks along the cliff tops, or in the nearby National Parks, the most satisfying places to eat and shop and how to access the nearby golf courses, rail trails, walking and cycling tracks. Cath can share the best way to explore areas unknown to most travellers.

100 Old Peterborough Road (OPR) is simply the address with everything you could want from a stay on the Great Ocean Road. It is a home, not a hotel and has the warmth and comfort that seals the experience of a wonderful day of discovery. The home is set amongst beautiful gardens with views over the Curdies River with its birdlife and sweeping grasslands. Both large, double bedrooms enjoy this view through generous wrap around windows. The living area is substantial and sumptuous with a huge stone fireplace offering the appeal that only a blazing fire can bring to the night. Outside, the fresh air and spaciousness remind you this is life away from it all and in the evening, the sparkling, star filled sky seconds that emotion.

What people are saying about 100 OPR

I almost don’t want people to know about Peterborough, it’s so unspoilt and beautiful. I couldn’t have experienced it to the fullest without Cath’s guidance. My visit to 100 OPR was truly special.

The perfect escape to push the reset button. We read books beside the huge open fire, rode our bikes to the Timboon distillery, walked the cliff tops along the great ocean road and had a swim at the beach! There was no need to rush, pottering was the perfect pace here! Make sure you sleep with the blinds pulled up as the sunrise of the lake each morning is spectacular! We’ll certainly be back to stay with Cath!

What a fabulous experience! From the moment I enquired to the moment Cath shut the farm gate behind us, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Having the incredibly knowledgeable Cath onsite was such a ‘local’ advantage and she not only welcomed us with open arms, she enhanced our experience by taking us to meet the animals, collect eggs and pat the miniature pony. Freshly made bread, on the day collected eggs, oven baked tomatoes, bacon and fresh vegetables were such a treat each morning. This is such a great getaway and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Our family loved staying at Cath’s house in Peterborough. Cath told us some great tips on where to eat and what to do in the area. The breakfast was beautiful with home made produce and eggs. Would definitely stay here again!

Cath was a great host who showered us with motherly care to make sure we were both comfortable and well fed. A great place to spend more than a night to explore the countryside with a host that seems very familiar with the area. Cosy farm stay that’s ideal for get together around the fireplace.

The family house is so well designed and spacious. It has a very beautiful garden and natural views. There are many lovely animals including a dog, pony, chickens and ducks that you can interact with and feed. It was definitely our best stay on the Great Ocean Road.

If you would like to talk to me and discuss a plan for your visit to the great South West, please don’t hesitate to contact me by phone or email. I have some great options.
